You cannot tell how far away a star is from a single glance. A near star and a far one look the same, pinned to the black. So you look twice, from two ends of a baseline, and you watch how the near thing shifts against the deep field. The size of that shift is the truth.
It is how humans first measured the distance to anything they could never touch.
The Parallax is the record beneath the surface — the second vantage. It refuses the single glance that makes a produced thing and a real thing look identical. Every piece is an act of looking again, from underneath, until the true position of a claim resolves.
